Internships with the Northern Plains Area (NPA)

Summer 2012
The Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is the principal research agency in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and is composed of eight geographical Areas. The Northern Plains Area (NPA) encompasses 13 research locations in the following states: Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming. All 2012 positions have been filled.
There are eight internships available for the summer of 2012, in the following NPA locations:
INTERNS MUST BE:
1. U.S. citizens or permanent residency; and be
2. Currently enrolled and have successfully completed at least 30 semester credits or 45 quarter credits at an accredited vocational, technical, two-year or four-year college/university in a degree program (seeking a Certificate, Associate, BS/BA, MA/MS, or PhD) with at least six hours in math and/or science courses, or a combination of coursework and related experience; and
3. Plan to continue their education in the fall of 2012 (need to supply proof of enrollment).
4. Additionally, if there are additional qualifications for a specific internship, those qualifications will be noted in the job announcement.

- Students interested in applying for any of the internships must contact the listed Mentor Scientist directly (email or telephone) for instructions on applying for a position.
- Application deadlines, starting and ending dates, schedules, preferred experience and/or course work, etc., are determined by each mentor scientist.
- In addition to any application materials required by the mentor scientist, you will need to supply a resume, certified transcripts, proof of enrollment (spring and fall semester 2012), and if selected, submit an OF 306 Declaration for Federal Employment.
- These types of positions typically fill quickly, so apply without delay!
