Western Human Nutrition Research Center
Improving the quality of life through nutrition research
Message from the Center Director
Our goals for the near future include further evaluation of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, and their implementation with regional foods for the range of population groups in the West. This will be the topic of a research conference to be held jointly with the UC Davis’ Foods for Health Institute in 2012.
Thank you for your interest in the WHNRC. We hope that this website will provide you with information on the exciting research in the Center, and opportunities for research collaboration and participation in human studies.
It is now 5 years since we moved into our custom-designed building on the campus of the University of California, Davis. Since then we have dramatically increased the number of ongoing human studies, our strength in metabolomics, and our external research support.
Although our research focuses primarily on domestic nutrition problems, those such as obesity, chronic disease, and micronutrient deficiencies are common around the world. Consequently we continue to expand our research collaborations to other continents including Africa, Asia and Latin America, where our interests are in combating micronutrient deficiencies and linking agriculture to food and nutrition.
We welcome your interest in the Center – please contact us for more information or opportunities for collaboration.
