Outreach and Professional Activities: 

ARS researchers Johnie N. Jenkins and Jack C. McCarty, Jr., Genetics and Precision Agriculture Research Unit, Mississippi State, MS will be attending the National Association of Plant Breeders Conference in Minneapolis, MN, August 5-7, 2014.  Dr. Jenkins, as the 2013 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for the National Association of Plant Breeders, will be making an invitational presentation entitled “From Depression Era Mules to the Moon and Back” to be presented Wednesday afternoon, August 6, 2014.

ARS researcher Stephen Duke, Natural Products Utilization Research Unit, University, MS will present a plenary presentation entitled,  “The Role of Natural Products in Pest Management” at a joint meeting of the American Society of Pharmacogasy and the 13th International Conference on the Science of Botanicals in Oxford, MS on August 2-6, 2014.  He will also chair a symposium that he organized on Agrochemicals and Biopesticides.

ARS researcher Ruixiu Sui, Crop Production Systems Research Unit, Stoneville, MS will travel to Montreal, Canada to attend ASABE and CSBE | SCGAB Annual International Meeting (Canadian Society of BioEngineering) from July 13-16, 2014.  Dr. Sui will be making two presentations entitled, “Test of Soil Moisture Sensors with Mississippi Delta Soil” (July 14th @ 2:30 pm) and “Corn Yield Response to Variable Rate Irrigation” (July 15 @ 10:45 am). He will also be chairing the IET-03 Information & Electrical Technologies Division Standard Committee meeting on July 14th from 12:15-2:15 pm.
