NCGR-Corvallis Distribution Policies
headline bar

The National Plant Germplasm System provides germplasm to support research and education objectives.

Due to the intensive effort and resources required to ensure availability of germplasm for this purpose, we are unable to distribute it for home gardening or other purposes that can utilize readily available commercial cultivars.

Please review before requesting plants or seeds.   Amounts are in short supply and the Corvallis Genebank can only supply very limited quantities of seeds or cuttings.

Please check the following pages for additional information:

The National Clonal Germplasm Repository (NCGR) at Corvallis complies with the USDA/ARS release policy to encourage continued free and unrestricted national and international exchange of germplasm. NCGR-Corvallis is a small USDA/ARS facility. In most cases, two stock plants of each clone are maintained, therefore, only a limited quantity of cuttings, scions, plants or in vitro cultures are available for any single accession. Normally, two plants, cuttings or in vitro cultures are provided for each clonal accession requested, or 25 seeds for each seed accession. Larger quantities should be requested from commercial sources. We do not provide rootstocks for scionwood grafting. Rootstocks are available from commercial sources.

Please acknowledge NCGR-Corvallis in publications and products resulting from the use of plant materials from the repository. We depend on federal funding to collect, evaluate, catalog, preserve and distribute these valuable plant resources. This work will only continue as long as the U.S. Congress and the general public agrees that our efforts are important. Information on plant evaluation or research results should be reported to the NCGR for entry into the Germplasm Resources Information Network (GRIN).

Submit an Order for Plants or Seeds

Please use the "Request This Germplasm" link after locating an accession retrieved following a search of the GRIN database, or after finding an accession on one of the Corvallis NCGR catalogs.

Disclaimer

Efforts are made by the NCGR staff to verify the identity of plant accessions, test for important diseases, and evaluate clonal qualities. Virus tested germplasm will be distributed whenever possible. NCGR will provide a written summary of identity verification and virus testing results for plant material for any requester. Historical information, including passport data, pedigree and development data, and previous evaluations, is available by following the link to the GRIN database. NCGR assumes no responsibility for identification or performance of distributed plant material.

Because plant materials are limited, orders may not be completely filled. Items marked 'Not Available' on the packing list may be resubmitted as a new request at a later date.
