PMP7.0 represents a new direction from a programming perspective, in that it utilizes the new Microsoft.Net programming architecture. Although this has taken an extended period of time to master and implement, in the long run it will be more efficient for adding new models and integrating the PMP information with other resources.

• Slider bars have been removed and input values can now be typed in or changed using the Spinner buttons.
• References for each model, where available, now appear prominently in an output box. Hyperlinks allow direct Internet access to the PDF file of the publication for defining model experimental design and for documentation.
• Multiple copies of a single model / microorganism can be open simultaneously for direct comparison under different conditions.
• Predictions can be made with or without a lag phase. There have been a number of requests for this feature, particularly for estimating worst-case scenarios and for calculating bacterial growth under fluctuating temperatures.

Other changes include:

• An improved toolbar with larger symbols and drop-down lists.
• PrintForm is available under the File menu.
• Printing just the output chart or table now results in the input parameters being printed on the page, as well as the time and date. This will help the user identify the output for different input scenarios.
• To print the output table, right-click the selected data (select with mouse or choose Select All), then click on Print Selected.
• To print the chart, right-click and select Print.
• The Calculate Growth Data button must be clicked to generate the output when the Microorganism or an Input value is changed. This feature was added so that new Input controls can be changed without updating Output values, Table and Chart controls, eliminating the (possibly) slow video effect, especially on slower machines.
• Model labels in the menu and toolbar specify the matrix (e.g. broth culture, chicken, etc.).
• Related Publications are accessible separately from the publications that describe the models using an updated ERRC Publications List.
• Added FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions Section) and Help menus.
• Print icon in toolbar provides a shortcut to printer options for Print Form.

  • Adding the new Thermal Inactivation of Salmonella spp. in Ground Beef model.
  • Adding the new Growth of E. coli O157:H7 in raw sterile Ground Beef model.
  • Adding the new Irradiation of E. coli, S. aureus, and Y. enterocolitica in Ground Meats model.
