After a 36-year campaign, cattle fever ticks were finally declared eradicated from the United States in 1943. Today, the only remaining area where these ticks are found is a narrow strip of land along the Texas-Mexico border that has been quarantined ever since 1938. These cattle are going through a tick treatment bath at an APHIS facility in McAllen, Texas.
