Using a handheld GPS unit, technician Lee McCoy records data on shrimp burrow density and aquatic vegetation cover. A hovercraft (in the background) is used to traverse the estuary’s 6,000 acres of intertidal mud and sandflat areas—inaccessible by most other means.
