A sprinkler head is easily modified. The body (solid black) can house a single spray plate (orange, green, brown, or red) that alters droplet size. The body attaches to either side of the dual-nozzle unit (far left): One side applies less water, usually early in the growing season; the other, more water, usually later in the growing season.
