In 1999, ARS led a consortium of industry, university, and environmental organizations in assessing the risk of Bt corn pollen to monarch butterfly caterpillars. The pollen was found to be of neligible risk to the caterpillars. Here, a large monarch caterpillar feeds on a common milkweed plant.
