Mission

The mission of the Tropical Plant Genetic Resources and Disease Research Unit is to support our stakeholders by safeguarding tropical fruits and nuts for future generations by efficiently and strategically collecting, conserving, regenerating, evaluating and distributing tropical genetic resources and information and by conducting research to enhance agricultural sustainability through improved plant growth and development, value added products and disease resistance and develop improved environmentally sound and economically beneficial practices for sustainable, diversified crop production.
The Tropical Plant Genetic Resources and Disease Research is located in Hilo, HI and is part of the Pacific West Area.
