United States Department of Agriculture
Agricultural Research Service
Located on the University of California, Davis campus in the agricultural Central Valley, much of the WHNRC's research investigates whether and how foods and food constituents prevent obesity and chronic disease.
Metabolomics identified new connections between serum markers of vitamin B12 status and metabolic markers of mitochondrial function, myelin integrity, oxidative stress and nerve function.
In 2019, the Western Human Nutrition Research Center completed the installation of a 33KW solar array on the roof. The contractor finished final inspections from the UC Davis Architects and Engineers Office in April. Future expansion is possible on the North West and North East roofs of the WHNRC.
The Center Director is Charles Stephensen.
