Dr. Bryan R. Moser is a Research Chemist in the Bio-Oils Research Unit at the USDA National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research in Peoria, IL. Dr. Moser earned a B.S. in chemistry from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and a Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry from Arizona State University. His doctoral work focused on the synthesis and characterization of cancer-inhibitory natural products as well as their structural derivatives.
Dr. Moser joined ARS in 2005 where he has established an international reputation for his expertise in alternative fuels and oleochemistry. His research primarily focuses on enhancing the fuel properties of biodiesel, expanding lipid sources for biodiesel, and chemical derivatization of lipids for industrial applications. Over the course of his career with ARS, Dr. Moser has published over sixty manuscripts and presented numerous papers at national and international conferences, often as an invited speaker. Dr. Moser is an Associate Editor for a leading journal in his field, serves as an invited reviewer for numerous entities, and organizes and chairs conference symposia. When not conducting research, Dr. Moser enjoys physical fitness, birding, astronomy, traveling, and family life.
