Volunteering in a Federal Laboratory
headline bar

To volunteer for any of the positions (Volunteer Project Listing) in my laboratory requires that you do the following:

  1. Contact me and we will arrange for you to visit the U.S. Horticultural Research Laboratory (USHRL).  I will show you exactly what we do, what the position involves, and why the work is important to the horticultural community.  This will help you determine if you want to become an official volunteer.  If so, then you will complete steps 2 and 3.

  2. Complete and sign the Volunteer Service Agreement. Unlike many federal forms, this one is simple and can be completed in about 1 minute.

  3. Complete a training course on laboratory safety.  The training is provided here at the USHRL, takes 3-4 hours, and is a computer-based training course.
