Research Microbiologist
I am a research microbiologist in the animal production (NP101) research project and joined NLAE in October 2004. My research focus is on alternatives to antibiotics against opportunistic pathogens of swine and turkeys including management interventions to reduce gastrointestinal colonization by Salmonella. I also investigate bacterial gene transfer of antimicrobial resistance and metal tolerance genes to identify mechanisms to reduce dissemination in the animal production environment. I enjoy exploring National Parks with my family especially the western and southwestern regions of the U.S.
