Research Interests:

Biological control; biology and ecology of pear psylla; biology of potato psyllid and wireworm in potatoes; biology and ecology of predaceous Heteroptera; insect pest management in potatoes and tree fruit

Research Background:

David R. Horton is a GS-15 Research Entomologist with responsibilities for developing new methods for controlling insect pests in potatoes and tree fruit. His research emphasizes use of integrated pest management, biological control, cultural control, and lesser toxic chemicals to manage pests. Ongoing studies in potatoes focus on developing tools for growers to use in monitoring or managing potato psyllids, leafhoppers, and wireworms. Dr. Horton has published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals, including several book chapters and invited reviews.
