Objective:
To characterize contemporary FMDV strains collected from various regions of Russia by ARRIAH in ARRIAH laboratories.

Approach:
ARRIAH will characterize contemporary FMDV strains collected from various regions in Russia. The characterization will be conducted by ARRIAH in ARRIAH laboratories and results summarized in a submitted report to ARS and DHS. If possible, successfully characterized FMDV strains will be shipped to DHS, PIADC for use in the DHS FMD countermeasure program. ARRIAH will complete the milestones and deliverables summarized below to support the DHS S&T Chemical/Biological Division, Agriculture Security Thrust Area. The work effort covers the 1 year period following the award date.
