Research Project: GENERATION OF BROAD SPECTRUM, HIGH TITER, CAPRINE POLYCLONAL ANTISERA AGAINST BOVINE VIRAL DIARRHEA VIRUS (BVDV)

Objective:
The objective of this cooperative research project is to elicit the production of antisera in goats that recognizes a broad range of bovine viral diarrhea viruses (BVDV).

Approach:
Antigenically and genetically diverse pestivirus strains will be selected. Inoculum will be prepared by growing selected viruses in tissue culture or by expressing proteins in a baculovirus vector. Inoculum will be delivered to goats in order to produce antibodies.
