Research Project: BROWN MARMORATED STINK BUG (BMSB) BIOLOGICAL CONTROL

Location: European Biological Control Laboratory

Project Number: 0212-22000-024-12
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Jul 23, 2012
End Date: Sep 30, 2012

Objective:
To develop molecular markers that conclusively identify natural enemies under evaluation as candidate biological control agents of BMSB ; 2) to obtain additional Asian natural enemies of BMSB

Approach:
Standard gene regions (starting with as COI) will be assessed for suitability as marker genes to identify and distinguish among different species of Trissolcus wasps that are being tested in the USA as candidate biological control agents for brown marmorated stink bug. Foreign exploration in Asia will be conducted to obtain additional natural enemies of BMSB.
