Research Project: Cotton Irrigation Management

Location: Peanut Research

Project Number: 6044-13210-005-01
Project Type: Trust

Start Date: Oct 01, 2012
End Date: Sep 30, 2015

Objective:
Determine cotton yield and quality response to various irrigation and fungicide treatments.

Approach:
Cotton will be planted and treated at three different times with Actigard fungicide at 4 leaf stage, 14 days, and 28 days after four leaf stage on four different irrigation regimes of overhead irrigation scheduling. Plant phenology status will be taken prior to each Actigard application and continue at various times throughout the growing season. Soil water potential will be used to trigger irrigation events at 40, 70, and 70-40-60 kPa. At harvest, yield and quality will be determined on all treatments and replications. Also, a box harvest will be taken on each treatment and replication to determine where on the plant yield occurred. Yield, lint quality, plant mapping, box mapping, plant phenology, and statistical data will be available to Syngenta.
