Objective:
1. Evaluate the efficacy of select pre-harvest fungicide applications and post-harvest drenches in the chemical control of Bull’s eye rot incited by Neofabraea perennans and Cryptosporiopsis kienholzii. 2. Determine the effectiveness of fungicide applications in the control of early versus late season apple fruit infection by N. perennans and C. kienholzii in the field and subsequent disese development in storage. These data will be utilized in determining an effective fungicide application schedule.

Approach:
One of the most common management practices in place for control of bull’s-eye rot is the use of fungicide sprays and postharvest drenches. While some in vitro assays have been conducted to measure the efficacy of select fungicides for control of bull’s-eye rot, large scale field evaluations of available fungicides have yet to be conducted or published. Additionally, it is unknown whether fruit infections occurring early in the growing season can still be controlled with fungicides applied near harvest. Reports of this disease from the Pacific Northwest indicate a gradual increase in fruit infection from year to year, emphasizing the need for reliable management strategies to help control the disease. Fungicide evaluations will be conducted to provide growers with an additional means to combat this disease in the field and after harvest.
