Research Project: Technologies, Genotypes and Planting Strategies to Enhance Cotton Germination under Limited Soil Moisture Conditions

Location: Plant Stress and Germplasm Development Research

Project Number: 6208-21000-019-13
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Jan 01, 2014
End Date: Dec 31, 2014

Objective:
Identify and evaluate multiple and complementary strategies that could impact the germination success of cotton planted under limited soil moisture conditions.

Approach:
Both greenhouse and field experiments will be conducted to evaluate single strategy technologies/germplasm under conditions of limited moisture. Data collected will include: emergence velocity, emergence percentage, and a quantitative measure seedling health or condition. In subsequent trials, combinations of strategies will be evaluated. Dehulled seed will be evaluated for enhanced imbibition.
