Research Project: Increasing Soybean Yield with Exotic Germplasm (Arkansas)

Location: Soybean/maize Germplasm, Pathology, and Genetics Research

Project Number: 3611-21000-026-24
Project Type: General Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jan 01, 2014
End Date: Nov 30, 2014

Objective:
Produce high yielding varieties and experimental lines from exotic soybean and wild soybean germplasm and develop new technology to more efficiently select and utilize exotic soybean germplasm for increasing yield.

Approach:
Develop higher yielding lines from elite cultivar x 50% PI lines and 50% PI x 50% PI crosses and release a MG V conventional variety with genetic diversity and better yields than commercial checks. We will also incorporate genes from modern cultivars from China, Brazil, and Argentina for high yield and genetic diversity.
