Research Project: Increasing Soybean Yield with Exotic Germplasm (Missouri-Scaboo)

Location: Soybean/maize Germplasm, Pathology, and Genetics Research

Project Number: 5012-21000-026-28
Project Type: General Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jan 01, 2014
End Date: Nov 30, 2014

Objective:
Large scale identification of economically important wild soybean diversity and transfer to applied breeding.

Approach:
Evaluate selected wild soybean accessions for selected seed composition traits and disease resistance to identify potential parents. Compare breeding methods for developing improved lines from soybean by wild soybean populations by selecting individual plants in the F2 generation followed by pedigree selection, bulk harvesting F2 population with selection of individual plants in F3 generation followed by pedigree selection, or by selecting individual plants in the F2 generation of BC1 populations followed by pedigree selection.
