Project Number: 3602-21000-007-04
Start Date: Jun 01, 2014
End Date: May 31, 2015
Over the past 4 years, a large number of mutants have been selected from the soybean TILLING population in West Lafayette. These include mutant lines with high levels of oleic acid, mutants with altered leaflet number, and mutants that flower significantly earlier or later than the Williams-82 parent. Lines will be selected for high throughput sequencing. We will test at least two approaches to deep sequence individual mutant lines which are homozygous for seed composition traits or architectural/agronomic traits. The collaborator will participate in data analysis and identification of candidate genes from the sequencing data. Based on this information, we will test for association of the mutant gene with the trait in a mapping population.
