Objective:
Assist in the selection and to provide support for cooperative activities under the U.S.-Egypt Science and Technology Joint Fund in furtherance of the purposes of the Science and Technology Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
Approach:
ARS will coordinate a proposal review for research projects, scientist development visits, and workshops and make recommendations on which proposals to fund for award decisions by the U.S.-Egypt Joint Board on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (the Joint Board). Following award decisions by the Joint Board, the ARS/OIRP will award grants for joint research by U.S. and Egyptian investigators in order to provide assistance to Egypt in the area of science and technology, and possibly will support workshops on scientific issues in Egypt. OIRP will administer these awards and monitor them through the life of their performance for up to three years after award date.
