Objective:
The second objective of our Project Plan directly relates to the proposed agreement: Improve processing and nutritional quality in potatoes through breeding and selection of superior germplasm. The Cooperators are interested in evaluating ARS potato germplasm earlier in the selection scheme for adaptation to southern growing conditions.

Approach:
Advanced germplasm from the USDA/ARS Potato Breeding Program with chipping potential will be furnished for evaluation at approximately 12 locations across the U.S. Chipping selections with potential under southern growing conditions from ARS and state potato breeding programs will be intercrossed and progeny produced for selection under southern growing conditions.
