Objective:
Obtain germplasm of Fraxinus nigra (black ash) for conservation in the U.S. National Plant Germplasm System and document populations of black ash from which germplasm is collected.

Approach:
Germplasm of black ash (Fraxinus nigra) will be collected from wild populations in North Dakota and Minnesota. Germplasm will be collected in the form of seeds and will be documented with locality, latitude and longitude, elevation, plant description, and growing environment. Herbarium voucher specimens will be made as appropriate. A detailed trip report, including information on all samples obtained, will be provided to ARS.
