Objective:
The purpose of this agreement is to conduct nutrition studies with walnuts to gather data on energy content and the role of walnuts in reducing risk for disease.

Approach:
ARS will conduct intervention studies to empirically determine the energy value of walnuts and to determine how walnuts impact risk factors for non-communicable disease. This information will be used by both parties to jointly develop new information on the role of diet and risk for chronic disease. The Cooperator will provide dietetic, food service, and scientific support for these studies.
