Research Project: Surface and Subsurface Edge of Field Assessment of Agricultural Management Practices

Location: Soil Drainage Research

Project Number: 5080-13210-002-003-T
Project Type: Trust Fund Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Mar 1, 2015
End Date: Feb 28, 2020

Objective:
Quantify edge-of-field water quality concentrations and loadings from different management practices.

Approach:
We will use automated data collection equipment and a paired field design to quantify the impact of various management practices. Sites will be instrumented and baseline data collected for a single crop rotation. At that point, a practice of interest will be installed on one of the fields in the pair and data collected for another crop rotation. The resulting difference will permit the quantification of the installed practice.
