Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Field trials using varying levels of limited irrigation in corn and sunflower have been conducted by the USDA-ARS Water Management Research Unit near Greeley, CO since 2008. In the most recent project which started in 2012, each crop has twelve stress treatments with four replicates, and varying levels of stress applied in the vegetative and maturity stages with no stress during sensitive reproductive stages. Research project design, data collection methods, and results are shown for field trials, including water productivity curves (yield vs. ET or irrigation), canopy cover, canopy temperature (with both infrared thermometers and thermal cameras), multispectral imaging, and other physiological stress indicators.
