Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Varietal selection is an important aspect for successful commercial production of kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.). Maximizing the production and processing efficiency of a selected kenaf crop is not only dependent of the production location and cultural aspects, and the differences in yield components among the kenaf varieties. Certain varieties are better suited for specific uses. Research has investigated the yield components of the most common varieties, including photosensitive and day-neutral varieties. More recent varieties have been developed to compensate for specific pest threats or production locations.
