ANTIGENIC CHARACTERIZATION OF SELECTED FIELD ISOLATES OF SUBGROUP J AVIAN LEUKOSIS VIRUS. INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ALV J. 2000. P. 13-22. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: Virus neutralization (VN), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and indirect immunofluorescence (IFA) tests were used to study the antigenic variation among various field isolates of subgroup J avian leukosis virus (ALV-J). Using the VN test, antibody to strain ADOL-Hc1 of ALV-J neutralized all isolates tested. Conversely, antibodies to the field isolates failed to neutralize strain ADOL-Hc1 of ALV-J; only isolate ADOL-F7366 exhibited a two-way cross-neutralization reaction with strain ADOL-Hc1. However, such antibodies tested positive using a commercial ELISA specific for detection of antibody to ALV-J. Using IFA, monoclonal antibodies to ALV-J detected all of ALV-J isolates tested, except ADOL-4817. |
