Interpretive Summary: Knowledge of vascular plant biodiversity is essential for preserving rare and interesting plants of tropical regions. This is especially true for aquatic plants that are still relatively unknown. This paper presents nine species of water-lilies in the genus Nymphaea that were only recently or are newly reported from Bolivia. Each species is discussed and voucher specimens documenting the reports are listed. A key is included to all species of Nymphaea known from Bolivia. This research will be used by botanists, conservationists, and horticulturalists in identifying species of water-lilies in Bolivia and documenting the biodiversity of tropical regions.

Technical Abstract: Recent investigations on the aquatic plants of Bolivia have discovered three species of waterlilies previously unknown for the country: Nymphaea jamesoniana Planch., N. lingulata Wiersema, and N. oxypetala Planch. The three plus N. belophylla Trickett and N. glandulifera Rodshied, the latter know previously from a single record, are briefly discussed. A key to the eight species of Nymphaea, all of subgenus Hydrocallis, known or expected from Bolivia is also provided.
