Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Soybean cyst nematode (SCN) is a major soybean disease in the USA. It causes a 2 to 6% annual yield loss. Use of resistant cultivars has been proven to be the most effective way to control SCN damage. Soybean line PI90763 is resistant to SCN races 1,2,3,5 and 6. It is an important resistance source in soybean breeding and is one of the four differentials in race determination test. It has been mapped for resistance to SCN races 1,3 and 6. However, no information is available for resistance to SCN races 2 and 5. SCN races 2 and 5 are the predominant SCN races in the USA at this time. Objective of our research is to identify QTLs for resistance to SCN races 2 and 5 in PI90763. The purpose of using race 3 is to compare with previous research. About 120 SSR molecular markers were used which covered all the 20 linkage groups with 5-7 SSR markers for most of the linkage groups.
