Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The M. graminicola-wheat pathosystem is developing rapidly as a new model for host-pathogen interactions, particularly for fungi in the Dothideales. Recent advances in genetics, molecular biology and host-pathogen relations have provided the tools needed for functional analysis of gene expression in both host and pathogen. As the community of scientists working on this pathosystem continues to grow, prospects seem great for understanding some of the unusual interactions between M. graminicola and its host which should lead to better disease-management strategies for the future.
