Interpretive Summary: Cholesterol is a small molecule found in all animal tissues. It is especially common in neurological tissue and organs. It is found as a trace component of plant material. This suggests that it could be used as a marker for the presence of meat and bone meal in ruminant feed. Data was presented that showed this could be accomplished.
