Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Eleven locations contributed useable data for this year's report. The substitution of the Osnabrock location for Langdon continued (about 12 miles east). The "Nursery Conditions" section provides comments concerning growing conditions at specific locations. Average planting date was 2 days later than the 30-year average, while average heading date was about four days later than the average. The average planting date of April 29th was only one day earlier than last year. Heading date (June 28th) was six days earlier than last year. Average yield (4710 kg/ha or 87.5 bu/a) was well above both the 30-year average and the 3832 kg/ha of last year. Entries with the best yields were Newdale, BT485, 6B99-6774, M109, and M115. Four stations reported test weight; the average of 65.4 kg/hl was slightly better than that of last year (64). The greatest test weights were recorded for Lacey, M117, 6B99-6774, ND17643, and 6B98-9170. Lodging data were reported from three locations, including Crookston, Carrington, and Bottineau. The five entries with the least lodging were Drummond, 6B98-9170, BT485, 6B99-6774, and M115. Average plant height was 77.9 cm, which is very close to that of last year. Shortest entries were 2ND19929, M116, M115, Newdale, and 6B99-6339. Kernel plumpness data were reported from Crookston, Morris, Sidney, Hamiota, and Kernen. Disease data were submitted from several locations and include ratings for net blotch, spot blotch, stem rust, FHB, and DON levels.
