Technical Abstract: Highly variable soils in the Mississippi Delta present challenges for successful site-specific crop management. We have been investigating the use of thermal imagery for determining the onset of crop water stress and characterizing crop vigor in specific field areas. Soil mapping has been an invaluable tool for defining management zones, and thermal imagery is being used to complement those efforts.
