Interpretive Summary: Genetic resources of clover provides genetic diversity and sources of germplasm useful for crop improvement. This study was conducted to provide useful information devoted to clover genetics. We discuss pertinent information related to the interrelationships of clover germplasm and genetics. This will result in valuable reference for students and scientists working on Trifolium.

Technical Abstract: This study was conducted to discuss the USDA, ARS clover germplasm taxonomy, gene pools, molecular techniques, conventional and molecular breeding for use by students and scientsits working on clover genetic resources. The results of this study will provide a valuable reference for Trifolium users. The germplasm collection provides a wide range of clover genetic resources for use in a breeding program. We explore the taxonomic implications in clover genetic resources and expand on the gene pool concept based on genetic relatedness to the cultivated species. Additionally, molecular and breeding techniques are taken into account for improving many traits, including drought, pest resistance, forage, edible vaccines, and environmental adaption. These results provide a synopsis and reference for Trifolium users, including students and scientists.
