Interpretive Summary: Application of Quadris in the seed furrow or light tillage before planting of direct-seed spring barley reduced Rhizoctonia root rot and increased yield.

Technical Abstract: Both glyphosate 'greenbridge' and fungicide treatments had a significant effect on yield (P=0.058 and <0.001, respectively), with no interaction between these main effects. Averaged across all disease treatments, the yields in the 3-d glyphosate treatment were significantly lower (4204 lb/A) compared to glyphosate applied 3 mo before planting (4852 lb/A) and 1 mo before planting (4824 lb/A) (P<0.05). When yields were averaged across glyphosate treatments Nitropak + Quadris and Nitropak + tillage significantly increased yields compared to the control (column 2). The application of Nitropak + Quadris and Nitropak with the high level of Dynasty on the seed significantly increased seedling height and the number of seminal roots, compared to the control. The high level of Dynasty also reduced the % incidence of crown root infection. In-furrow application of Quadris was as effective as light tillage in increasing yield of direct seeded spring barley.
