High density ESTs based bovine physical maps and their use to construct comparative maps and inform the bovine genome sequence assembly[abstracat]. Plant and Animal Genome XIV:55. Number W214.

Technical Abstract: The 3000 rad bovine whole genome radiation hybrid panel and bovine BAC libraries have been used to construct an integrated physical map of the bovine genome, which will contribute to the final assembly of the bovine genome sequence. The RH map now contains more than 4000 markers, the majority of which are genes or ESTs. The draft bovine sequence was used to extend sequence information for the markers and construct detailed comparative maps. Many of the markers included in the RH map have been used to identify BAC clones derived from INRA and CHORI BAC libraries, and have been used to align the whole genome BAC contig with the RH map and hence the linkage map. BAC contigs falling within gaps in the bovine sequence will be used to derive sequence to fill gaps in the genome sequence.
