Interpretive Summary: We sequenced and identified 101 ribosomal protein genes from the parasitoid wasp, Lysiphlebus testaceipes. The sequences were submitted to the public database, NCBI Genbank. This dataset represents one of the largest and most complete sets of ribosomal protein sequences for an insect species. The data will be particularly useful to researchers looking for molecular markers to use in studies of plant and animal systematics, phylogeny, and diagnostics.

Technical Abstract: A dataset containing 101 putative ribosomal protein (RP) sequences is provided for the aphid parasitoid, Lysiphlebus testaceipes. These data were obtained as a subset from a cDNA library constructed from adult L. testaceipes, and represent one of the largest complete sets of cytoplasmic RP sequences for any insect species. Both the amino acid and nucleotide sequences of these RPs will be particularly useful to those interested in improving the utility of molecular markers selected for phylogenetic analyses or diagnostic procedures involving insects and other eukaryotes.
