Technical Abstract: Cyclophilin A is a member of highly conserved immunophilins and ubiquitously found intracellularly. The complete sequence of the channel catfish cyclophilin A cDNA gene consisted of 1,170 nucleotides. Analysis of the nucleotide sequence reveals one open reading frame and 5’- and 3’-end untranslated regions (UTR). The 5’-UTR had 104 bases containing a potential TATTA box and a Sp1 transcription factor binding site. The 3’-UTR had 571 bases in length containing a potential mRNA instability motif, two polyadenylation signal sequences and a polyadenylation tail. The open reading frame potentially encoded a 164-amino-acid peptide with a calculated molecular weight of 17,450 daltons.
