Interpretive Summary: Fungi are a group of organisms that obtain their nutrition by absorption. They are important to agriculture because they cause diseases of crop plants and forest trees. In addition fungi are useful in controlling disease-causing organisms especially other fungi. This paper reports on a group of fungi that parasitize other fungi and thus may be influence the growth and development of their hosts. A number of new species have been discovered. These are named, described and illustrated. In addition a key for the identification of all the species in this genus is provided. This research will be used by scientists who need to identify these fungi.

Technical Abstract: New combinations and new species are proposed in Neobarya: N. aurantiaca comb. nov., N. byssicola comb. nov., N. lichenicola comb. nov., N. lutea sp. nov., N. peltigerae sp. nov., N. xylariicola sp. nov. Neobarya agaricicola, and N. parasitica are redescribed. Anamorphs associated with N. agaricicola (Calcarisporium), N. aurantiaca (paecilomyces-like), N. byssicola (Diploospora), N. danica (lecanicillium-like), N. parasitica (lecanicillium-like), N. peltigerae (acremonium-like),and N. xylariicola (Calcarisporium) are described. Barya montana and B. salacensis are excluded from Neobarya. A key to species is provided.
