Technical Abstract: Current research efforts on gossypol, a poly-phenolic compound present in cottonseed, are described. The report focuses on efforts to manipulate the levels and forms of gossypol in cottonseed and on studies of the compound’s bioactivity. Also discussed are efforts to make derivatives of gossypol with improved levels of activity.
