Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: A syndrome of stillbirths and preweaning losses with myocarditis occurred on 2 Australian pig farms in 2003. While extensive investigations excluded a wide range of know agents, a foetal inoculation study confirmed an infectious agent was present and likely to be viral. This paper describes the identification/characterisation of this agent.
