Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: This note reports Arundo donax, giant reed or carrizo cane, as a new host association of Eoreuma loftini, the Mexican rice borer. Larvae of E. loftini were found feeding on the growing tips of A. donax canes in a nursery and in field stands along the Rio Grande in the Lower Rio Grande Valley and Laredo, Texas.
