Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: This special issue is published for the International Society of Biocatalysis and Biotechnology (ISBB). The ISBB special issue is devoted to all areas of biocatalysis and agricultural biotechnology in which biological systems are developed and/or used for the provision of commercial goods or services. Biocatalysis defined here include enzyme catalysis, biotransformation, bioconversion, fermentation, genetic engineering and product recovery. The main purpose of the special issues is to publish reports of reviews, original papers or short communications of new findings, techniques and developments in all aspects of important advances in this field for students, researchers, managers and others in industry, government and academia. The special issues will cover: Agricultural biotechnology, Analytical biotechnology, Chemical biotechnology, Plant biotechnology, Microbial biotechnology, Food biotechnology, Bioenergy, Environmental biotechnology, Systems biology, Protein technologies and commercial enzymes, Tissue and cell engineering, and Pharmaceutical biotechnology. This new journal (the special issues) will emphasize the areas of agricultural biotechnology, microbial/cell biotechnology, and industrial biocatalysis. Recent energy and food crises point out the important of bio-based products from renewable resources and agricultural biotechnology. |
