Interpretive Summary: The gall, rust bud mites includes many species that are pests on crops, ornamentals, and fruit and forest trees. Around 4000 species of gall, rust and bud mites have been described. These mites are very small and several species are associated with the proliferation of hairs on the leaf, which helps the mites hide and making field recognition and control of the mites difficult. The importance of this paper is to describe and illustrate a new genus and new species from India. It is directed to an audience consisting of primarily biologists, entomologists, zoologists and students involved in studies of nature and systematics.

Technical Abstract: Mangalaus ikrishianusandhanus n. gen., n. sp., (Acari: Prostigmata: Eriophyoidea), collected from erineum on the underside of leaves of Cordia dichotoma (Boraginaceae) is described and illustrated from specimens collected at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in New Delhi, India.
