Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Insect specimens were collected from a laboratory colony of Lygus lineolaris and total RNA was extracted. cDNA was prepared by reverse translation and both ends of the gene corresponding to the EST DY470912 were amplified using gene-specific primers and RACE kit primers. The amplified ends were cloned into a TOPO vector and multiple clones were sequenced and compared to get consensus ends, and matched to the original sequence. Sequencing was performed by the USDA ARS in Stoneville, MS. Sequences were analyzed by comparison with the NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information, at the website http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) BLAST algorithms, and using DNAStar LaserGene EditSeq and MegAlign programs. The complete gene aligns well with known IAP genes from aphid, mosquitoes, and Drosophila.
